Quantum Of Solace

The 22nd film in the James Bond series is the second to star Daniel Craig in the title role. Bond's mythology was rebooted in 2006 with the release of Casino Royale, in which Craig inherited the mantel from Pierce Brosnan. Craig's Bond is a bit grittier though I did feel that Brosnan's Bond was heading in that direction. Still, the Brosnan era continued the tried and true staples of gadgets and babes. Oh, the babes are still around in Craig's world, but he doesn't spend nearly as much time with them. Gone though are Q and his impossibly clever gadgets which seemed to always be invented just in time to be precisely what Bond would need in the particular adventure in which they were introduced.

Speed Racer

I think there are basically two approaches for creating films based on comic book or anime characters. You can go for "grounded in reality", a la the latest crop of comic book films or you can "create a new reality" a la Ultra Violet. Yes, I know people don't have super powers in our world, however Spiderman, Batman, The Uncanny X-Men and The Fantastic Four, have all recently appeared in films which attempt to convince us they exist in our universe. The streets are the same, the cars, the clothes... we just have to accept that there are folks who can accomplish preternatural feats and that is, of course, where the fun begins!

Iron Man

The comic book super hero movie. Yeah, that's not really a sentence, but it is however, a challenge. Sometimes they get lucky (X-men), sometimes they get something embarrassing (Captain America), but no matter what, they almost always have one major problem: the second half.

Everyone Has To Start Somewhere

For a few years now, I have been looking for some way to attempt to get involved in local theater. Sometime last year, while doing research, I remembered the Weathervane Playhouse. I found their website and noticed they were holding open auditions for a play in the very near future.

Day 3 on the Ninja

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I woke up late today due to being up until 0300 writing up "Day 2". Once again the weather was gorgeous and the bikes were out in force. I had a few things to accomplish before I could suit up and hit the road and while I was working on those things, my friend Wes called and offered to come down and ride with me. He began riding with my sister and her husband sometime last year so he has more experience than I do as well.

Second day on the Ninja

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

If you had a chance to take a look at the Candy Plasma Blue Ninja photo gallery, you may have seen the pic with the caption "Vinnie's new bike complete with oil leak!". When Steve and Mo were helping me choose a bike at the dealer, Steve noticed oil on the floor under the bike. We all agreed that it might not have been from that particular bike. Four days later when Mo and I went to finalize the purchase, the salesman assured me the oil was not from my bike as it had been through their "24 point check" or whatever. So, naturally, I was a bit disapointed to find that it had a small puddle of oil under it after my first ride on Wednesday.

First Time On The Road With My Ninja

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

For those of you who looked at my winter photo gallery, no, I don't mean Kayleigh the snow Ninja.

I have had a total of 2 riding lessons. Both of those days were back in the OCT/NOV time frame on Mo's (my sister) 1976 (78? 70-something) CB200T (Very small Honda bike). In fact you can see pictures from the first day elsewhere on this website in the gallery entitled Vince & the CB. (go figure).
